Terms of Service

These terms apply to everyone who uses homestate.lol, whether you only vote or you also buy a State Lord sponsorship.

Effective date: 27 August 2026 · Operator: Timur Demir

1. What this site is

homestate.lol is an entertainment website. Visitors vote for their home state among the 50 US states, and businesses or individuals can buy a promotional “State Lord” slot that displays their name, description and link on a state card and on the map.

The words “Lord” and “Throne” are used humorously. They confer no official status, no authority, and no rights of any kind over a US state or anything else. Nothing on this site is affiliated with or endorsed by any government body.

2. Voting

Voting is free and requires no account. One active vote is counted per internet connection, and you may move your vote to a different state at any time — your previous vote is removed automatically.

You may not use scripts, bots, proxies, or any automated means to cast votes or to manipulate the ranking. We may remove votes and block access where we detect abuse. Vote counts are provided for entertainment and are not audited or guaranteed to be accurate.

3. State Lord sponsorships

Buying a State Lord slot gives you a non-exclusive, revocable display of your title, description, logo and link on one state. There is no fixed end date: it lasts for as long as no one outbids you.

  • Empty thrones are sold at the base price shown on that state's card.
  • While a state has an active sponsor, anyone can take over by paying at least $1 more than the current throne value.
  • If you are displaced, you may reclaim the same state with the same link by paying only the difference between the current throne value and what you previously paid.
  • Being outbid is a normal part of the service. It is not a defect, and it does not entitle you to a refund of a sponsorship you already received.

The price shown before payment is the price charged. If the throne changes hands while you are completing the form, we will show you the new price and ask you to confirm before taking any payment.

4. What you may not publish

By buying a sponsorship you confirm that you own or are authorised to promote the link you submit, and that your title, description, logo and destination page do not contain:

  • illegal content, or content that promotes illegal activity;
  • malware, phishing, or deceptive redirects;
  • sexual content involving minors, or any sexually explicit material;
  • harassment, hate speech, threats, or content targeting a private individual;
  • impersonation of another person, business or public body, including misleading use of someone else's trademark;
  • content that is otherwise abusive, obscene, or grossly offensive.

If you upload a logo image rather than linking one, you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it, and you give us permission to store and display it on the site for as long as your sponsorship is published. We claim no ownership of it and use it for nothing else.

We review reported content and may remove any sponsorship that breaches this section. As stated in the Refund Policy, sponsorships removed for a breach are not refunded. We may also remove content where a platform, payment provider or legal authority requires it.

5. Copyright complaints

If you own a copyright and believe something published here infringes it — a logo, an image, a description, or the page a sponsor links to — email timurdemir3426@gmail.com with the subject Copyright complaint and include:

  • what the work is, and where your original can be seen;
  • the state, and the exact text or image you say infringes it;
  • your name, postal address, email address and phone number;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  • a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information above is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf;
  • your signature — typing your full name is enough.

We remove or disable material covered by a valid complaint and tell the sponsor why. A sponsorship removed this way is not refunded: publishing material you had no right to publish breaches section 4.

If you are the sponsor and believe your material was removed by mistake, reply to us with your reasons and we will review it again.

We end the sponsorships of anyone who repeatedly publishes material they have no right to use, and we may refuse them future sponsorships.

6. Availability and changes

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site. A sponsorship is sold for as long as no one outbids you, not for a fixed term, so discontinuing the site does not by itself create a right to a refund. Nothing in this section limits any statutory right you have under the consumer law that applies to you.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost traffic.

Sponsor links point to third-party websites we do not control and do not endorse. Visit them at your own discretion.

8. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States. The site is operated by Timur Demir, 837 19th St NE, Washington, DC 20002, United States.
